Best Japanese Food / Soba in town

Last night, my wife and I went to a japanese restaurant in mid town east (43rd St btw 2nd & 3rd) called Soba totto (map). Excellent food. Great creativity. Everything we ordered were excellent. Start with great grilled yakitori (grilled meat ball w/ tare saurce, chicken wings and pork stew with scillion), then deep fried shrimp cluster. Main course we ordered cold soba with citrus flavor and roasted duck hot soba. Best soba I ever have in New York city. Even better than Sobaya. Will all great appetizers and main course, our stomach called us to try one more dish. Reading through the menu, we chose deep fried sesame tofu. Thought it would be standard fried tofu with sesame flavor, it came with surprise. The texture was little like mochi (stick rice cake). I cannot find anywhere with the right blend of tofu, mochi, sesame taste and light soy sauce finished. Who could skip the dessert knowing all the dishes are so great? We ordered a soymilk blanc manger. It is partly like pudding and partly like pana cotta with wheat sugar jam on the top. This dessert finished our dinner perfectly. We both can't stop enjoying every single taste and kept saying best japanese food in town.

Yummy! Yummy! Yummy!
